Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 20, 2024

At xdme.com, we take your privacy seriously. The xdme Offline Messenger is designed from the ground up to be a private, secure, and decentralized communication tool. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information Collection and Use

The xdme Offline Messenger is a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) application. We do not operate central servers to facilitate your conversations, and we do not collect your personal data.

  • Display Name: Stored locally on your device and only broadcast to nearby users during discovery.
  • Cryptographic Keys: Generated locally. Your private key never leaves your device.
  • Messages: Sent directly via Bluetooth or local WiFi. We do not have access to your content.

2. Permissions

To provide offline functionality, the app requires:

  • Bluetooth & WiFi: To discover and connect to nearby devices.
  • Nearby Devices: Required by Android for P2P connections.
  • Location: Required by Android for Bluetooth scanning (we do track GPS).

3. Data Security

Privacy is built into the protocol. All messages are End-to-End Encrypted (E2EE) using the industry-standard Tink library (ECIES P256). Only the intended recipient can read your messages.

4. Third-Party Services

The app uses the Google Nearby Connections API. While we don't collect data, Google's system services may process technical identifiers. Review Google's Privacy Policy for more details.

5. Data Retention

We do not "retain" any of your information. Your history exists only on your physical device. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all local data.
