Why Does Extra Carbon Dioxide Change Seawater?
The ocean drinks in some of the extra carbon dioxide that we put in the air by burning fuel. Carbon dioxide and water make a weak acid, so the sea becomes a little less basic. Scientists call this ocean acidification.
