Book 33, Question 44
How long do mammal babies grow before they are born?
The time a baby grows inside its mother before birth is called gestation.
A mouse’s is only about three weeks. A dog’s is about two months, and a person’s is about nine months. An elephant’s is almost two years, the longest of any land animal. Bigger mammals usually need more time to develop. Each baby gets the time it needs.
