Book 33, Question 22
What were the first mammals like?
They were small, like shrews or mice, and many were active at night.
The first mammals lived more than 200 million years ago. They hid in burrows or under logs. They lived at the same time as the dinosaurs. Their bones show fur, three ear bones, and a way to nurse babies. They were the beginning of a big family.
