Book 33, Question 7
How does a mammal keep its body temperature steady?
Mammals make their own heat by turning food into energy.
Most keep their bodies at a steady temperature, somewhere around 97 to 102 degrees Fahrenheit. When they are cold, they shiver or fluff their fur. When they are hot, they pant, sweat, or find shade. A steady temperature lets mammals stay active in cold places and at night.
