Book 32, Question 140
Do alligators really live in city sewers?
This is an urban legend.
People tell stories about alligators in sewers, but sewers are not good homes. They are dark, cold, and have little food. Alligators need warmth, sunlight, and fresh water. Now and then, a lost or unwanted pet alligator has turned up in a city, but not living in the sewers. Wild alligators live in swamps, rivers, and lakes in warm places.
