Book 32, Question 133

Why is hand-washing a must after meeting a reptile?

Healthy-looking turtles, lizards, and snakes can carry germs such as Salmonella on their skin.

The germs don’t bother the reptile, but they can make people sick. After you touch a reptile or anything from its home, wash your hands well with soap and water for at least twenty seconds. Don’t touch your face or food first. Soap helps wash the germs away.
