Book 32, Question 114
Why do softshell turtles have snorkel noses?
Softshell turtles have flat, leathery shells and long, bendy noses like snorkels.
They can bury themselves in sandy bottoms and stick just their noses up to breathe. A long neck lets them reach the surface from a distance. Their flat bodies are good for swimming fast. They have a special shape for a hidden life underwater.
