Book 31, Question 92
Why do different birds understand each other’s alarm calls?
Many kinds of birds share a forest, and they all face the same dangers.
Chickadees, nuthatches, and titmice often forage together. Scientists found that these birds understand each other’s alarm calls, even though they are different species. When a chickadee sounds a loud alarm, the others freeze or hide. A shared warning system helps every bird in the group stay safe.
