Book 31, Question 45
Why do insect-eating birds have thin, pointed beaks?
Many warblers and wrens eat small insects hidden on leaves and bark.
A thin, pointed bill works like a pair of tweezers and can pluck a tiny bug from a crack or a leaf. A thick bill would be too clumsy for small targets. When you see a small bird hopping through branches, it may be checking every nook and cranny.
