Book 30, Question 48
Why should you leave the water when thunder rumbles?
Lightning can strike water and travel through it for a distance.
Boats and swimmers are tall targets in open water. If you can hear thunder, lightning is close enough to be dangerous. Get out of the water, away from the shore, into a building or a car with a hard roof. Wait at least 30 minutes after the last thunder before returning.
