Book 29, Question 121
Why do blueberries need special soil?
In soil that is not acidic enough, they can't take up iron, and their leaves turn yellow.
Blueberries need acidic soil with a pH of about 4.5 to 5.5. Gardeners add acidic materials like peat moss or pine needles, and use special fertilizers, or grow them in pots filled with acidic mix. Not every plant likes the same soil, so check what yours needs.
