Book 29, Question 89
What is a cold frame?
A cold frame is a simple bottomless box with a clear lid that sits on the garden soil.
It works like a mini greenhouse, trapping sun's warmth to protect seedlings or extend the season for lettuce and spinach. On warm days, the lid must be propped open to let air in so plants don't cook. Gardeners can build one from old windows.
