Book 29, Question 34
Which way do bean vines twine around a pole?
A young bean shoot sweeps slowly in circles in the air until its tip bumps into a pole.
Then it wraps around it. Most pole beans twine counterclockwise when you look down from above. Other vines, like honeysuckle, twist the other way. Twining lets beans climb toward sunlight without needing a thick trunk.
