Book 28, Question 135
How does a handicap make golf fair for different players?
In golf, a handicap is a number that shows a player's usual skill.
When players compete, the better golfer's score is adjusted by subtracting less, and a beginner's score by subtracting more. That way, a new player and an expert can have a close game. Handicaps are updated using past scores. They are a nice example of math making a game fairer.
