Book 28, Question 86
Why do bones get stronger when you jump and run?
Bones are alive, and they respond to the force they feel.
Jumping, running, and playing put gentle stress on bones, and the body responds by adding more material where it's needed. Kids and teens build most of their bone strength now, which lasts for life. Swimming is great exercise, but weight-bearing activities build bones more.
