Book 28, Question 67
How do racing wheelchairs go so fast?
A racing wheelchair has two big tilted wheels at the back and one small wheel in front.
The tilt gives stability and lets the arms swing close to the body. Racers wear gloves and punch the hand rims to speed up, like pushing a bike pedal. The chair is light and low, and the top racers hold average speeds higher than most runners. Sports engineers design them for each athlete.
