Book 28, Question 52
How fast can a human run?
A pronghorn, a deer-like animal of the prairies, can sprint at about twice the speed of the best human and keep a fast pace for miles.
The fastest speed ever recorded for a person is about 27 or 28 miles per hour, reached by Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt in 2009 for a short stretch of a 100-meter race. Most people can run 8 to 12 miles per hour. Humans are better at running long distances than most animals.
