What angle sends a ball the farthest?
In real life, air slows the ball, so a slightly lower angle often works better.
If a ball is launched and lands at the same height with no air, the farthest angle is 45 degrees, halfway between flat and straight up. Throwers who release from above the ground, like shot putters, also choose a little less than 45 degrees. Players find the best angle by practice and feel.
