Book 27, Question 35
How does temperature change which crystals form?
When melted rock cools, different minerals become solid at different temperatures.
Some crystals form first at high temperatures, while others wait until it is cooler. So the first crystals can float or sink before the rest freeze around them. Scientists read the mix of crystals in a rock to learn how hot it was and how it cooled, like reading a recipe.
