Book 26, Question 92
Why do engineers study things that go wrong?
When something breaks or fails, engineers look for the cause so they can prevent it next time.
In 1940, a long bridge in Washington State twisted and shook in the wind, which led to its collapse. No people were hurt. Engineers studied it and learned about wind and vibration. Today, bridges are tested in wind tunnels. Safe designs often come from learning from mistakes.
