Book 26, Question 58
How did people clean their teeth before toothbrushes?
Long ago, people chewed on twigs with frayed ends to rub their teeth clean.
In China around 1498, someone made a brush with animal bristles on a bone handle. Brushes slowly spread, and nylon bristles replaced animal hair in 1938. Today, toothbrushes are soft, small, and comfortable. Brushing twice a day for two minutes keeps teeth healthy.
