Book 25, Question 143
How do planners test a city design before it's built?
Computers can simulate how people and cars would move, how sunlight and shadow would fall, or how a flood would flow through the streets.
Planners can change a plan and run the test again at no cost. Small models and virtual reality also help them imagine the place. Testing first means mistakes are found early, when they are easy to fix.
