Book 25, Question 91
Why do some cities turn empty lots into community gardens?
Neighbors can grow vegetables, herbs, and flowers on land that would otherwise sit empty.
Fresh food is healthy, and working together builds friendships. Many community gardens use raised beds with clean soil. Kids learn where food comes from, and gardens give bees and butterflies a place to visit. Gardens also soak up rain and make the neighborhood greener.
