Book 25, Question 59

Why are some city wires buried while others hang on poles?

Wires on poles are cheaper to build and easy to fix, but they are exposed to wind, ice, and falling branches.

Buried wires are protected from storms and don't clutter the view. However, digging costs a lot, and it can take longer to find and repair a problem. Cities use both, depending on the place.
