Book 25, Question 19
Why are some skyscrapers rounded, tapered, or twisted?
Wind swirling around a tall building can make it wiggle.
A shape that changes with height, like a tapering tower or one with a twist, confuses the swirls so that they don't line up and push in rhythm. Rounded corners also make wind flow more smoothly. The Burj Khalifa has a stepped, Y-shaped design for this reason, and it is also pretty to look at.
