Book 24, Question 116
Where does the clay for bricks and pots come from?
Clay forms when rocks break down into very fine, flat particles. It is dug from the ground in clay pits. When wet, it is soft and can be shaped, and when it's heated in a hot oven called a kiln, it hardens into brick, tile, or pottery. People have been making bricks and pots for thousands of years.
