Book 24, Question 75
How can scientists watch roots grow underground?
Scientists use clear tubes, called minirhizotrons, put into the soil with tiny cameras inside. Some research stations have underground rooms with glass walls so that researchers can see roots through the window. At home, you can use a clear jar with a damp paper towel and a bean seed pressed against the glass. Roots grow right where you can see them.
