Book 24, Question 68

Is a potato a root?

No, a potato is a tuber, a swollen underground stem that stores food for the plant. The little dents called eyes are buds that can sprout into new plants. If you plant a piece of potato with an eye, it will grow. Never eat green or sprouting parts of a potato, because they can make you sick.
