Book 24, Question 25
Why is soil deep in some places and thin in others?
Soil depth depends on how fast it forms and how fast it is carried away. On flat land with plenty of plants, soil builds up and gets thick. On steep slopes, rain and wind wash it away faster, leaving thin soil. Rivers also drop soil in their valleys.
