Book 24, Question 12
Why is soil different colors in different places?
Soil takes its color from what is in it. Dark brown or black soils have lots of rotted plant material. Red and orange soils get their color from iron that has rusted, like the red soil of Prince Edward Island. Gray or bluish soils are often soaked with water for long periods.
