How Can You Walk in a Straight Line Using a Compass?
Have you ever tried to walk in a straight line without a path? It is much harder than you think! A compass can help you stay on track.
More fun facts
- First, draw a line on your map from where you are to where you want to go.
- Lay the compass baseplate along that line, with the travel arrow pointing to your goal.
- Turn the dial until compass north matches map north.
- Hold the compass in front of you and turn your whole body until the red needle sits over the orienting arrow.
- Then walk the way the travel arrow points.
