Why Can a Laser Read the Tiny Bumps on a Disc?

A disc has a long track of tiny pits and flat spots, and a laser inside the player reads it. A sensor notices how the laser light bounces back, and those patterns turn into sound or pictures. The laser is sealed inside the player, and you should never shine a laser at eyes.
