Book 10, Question 102

Why Does a Bruise Turn Purple, Then Green, Then Yellow?

A bruise changes color because your body is cleaning up leaked blood! When tiny blood vessels under the skin break, a little blood gets trapped, and as your body breaks it down the colors shift from red to purple to green to yellow. If a bruise is large, very sore, or has no clear cause, tell a grown-up.
